With more than 17 million people each year, the high cholesterol is one of the scariest killer in the world. The warning is the World Health Organization, who conducted the largest study done to date on the subject, involving a pool of 147 million people.

Just with high cholesterol cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke in particular, are in fact fertile soil. In this regard, the WHO points out that the majority of people with high cholesterol levels does not receive the necessary treatment to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The study shows the magnitude of the difference in treatment for high cholesterol. In Thailand, for example, 78% of adults surveyed had no knowledge of being at risk, while in Japan to 53% of adults have been diagnosed with high cholesterol levels but have not been cured.
