The doctrine of lifestyle anti-aging can help people maintain cognitive function even when they get older.

Korean researchers completed a study to evaluate 460 elderly, aged 60 years. Participants were randomized into 5 groups: group A received standard care services; group B received bimonthly (every 2 months) telephone support; group C received monthly telephone assistance and educational materials similar to those of the group B; Group D received bimonthly visits by health professionals and consultants; And the group has received bimonthly visits by health workers, counseling activities, and rewards for joining the program.

The researchers measured the result, ie the cognitive functions of respondents subjected to different treatments, using a standardized scale. The Group E showed higher cognitive functions to group A, showing that active participation in cognitive activities is the most important factor for maintaining cognitive function.

The subjects who were physically active, not smoking, were engaged in social activities, were cognitively active, drank alcohol in moderation and eaten in a balanced way have had the best results.

The study authors say: "Engaging in cognitive activities, in combination with other positive health behaviors, can be useful in preserving cognitive skills for the elderly."
