Over the years, our skin undergoes changes at the cellular and structural levels that result in a slow and progressive change in appearance. The skin, more than other organs affected by the effect of time: sun exposure, pollution, temperature extremes, stress, hormonal changes, etc.. are all factors that influence change.

The progressive change in originates in depth, at the level of the dermis, where there is a gradual degeneration of the supporting matrix of connective tissue, while in surface manifest themselves first aesthetic problems such as dryness, dehydration, appearance of wrinkles to finally arrive to sagging skin with abnormal architecture of the face.

At 30.40, 50 years

From the age of 30 years, as the skin loses its ability to retain water and elasticity: wrinkles are the highlight. Biological aging is the main cause of degenerative tissue, and the formation of the first lines stems from the continuous and involuntary movements that daily makes our face, through the contraction and relaxation of the muscles below (wrinkles). As the skin loses in time its elastic capacity of deconcentration, it forms the wrinkle. This first stage of skin aging, which is also referred mioinvecchiamento, generally is localized on the forehead, around the mouth (wrinkles nose-geniene) and between the eyebrows. Sometimes it starts even before the age of thirty.

Around 40 years, cell renewal slows and appears on the surface with dull skin and dull, uneven skin relief and the appearance of fine lines. At the same time the hydro-lipid film, the main protective barrier of the skin, thins and what determines dryness or dehydration; decreases the production of elastin and collagen which involves a loss of elasticity and firmness. External environmental factors (UV rays, pollution, smog, stress, diet) free radicals that activate the enzymes that contribute to the destruction of the main components of the dermis (elastin, collagen, hyaluronic acid), further worsening the situation.

Starting from 50 years, which generally corresponds, in women, the menopause will occur in addition hormonal factors that impact negatively on the skin renewal (turnover), hydration, accelerate the loss of collagen and elastic fibers and induce a ' abnormal distribution of melanin. The fabrics on the surface appear shriveled relaxed, as drawn, to change the appearance of the face (modification of'' oval of the face).

What to do?

Much can be done to try to slow this process: the signs of aging can be fought primarily leading a healthy and balanced life, both in terms of the power that habits (eg not smoking, doing sports, sunbathing in moderation ).

The cosmetic anti-aging strategies include prevention of wrinkles, playing a role in protecting the skin from aggressive external factors, bringing nutrients and moisturizers or removing the top layer of dead skin cells, which make the skin thick and yellowish. Before applying any cosmetics should always carry out a thorough and regular cleaning of the skin of the face, morning and evening, as poor hygiene is one of the factors which contribute to skin aging.
