Supplements for the welfare of the prostate

Prostatitis is a chronic inflammation of the prostate that can affect the quality of life of a man.

Naif Alwithanani, from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio, USA), and colleagues studied 27 men, aged 21, who was diagnosed with prostatitis in the past year (via biopsy and specific antigen test ( PSA). The men were assessed for symptoms of prostate disease by answering questions on International-Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) tests. Of the 27 participants, 21 have had or have had mild inflammation, while 15 have had malignancies confirmed biopsy, and 2 had both inflammation is a malignant tumor. Each of the subjects had at least 18 teeth, and all of them showed moderate to severe periodontitis. They received treatment and were examined again for periodontal disease 4- 8 weeks later and showed a significant improvement.

During periodontal care, men have not received any treatment for prostate conditions. But even without prostate treatment, 21 of the 27 men showed decreased levels of PSA. Those with the highest levels of inflammation have benefited most from the periodontal treatment. 6 participants showed no change. The test score IPSS showed improvement.

The study authors write that: "The treatment improves the symptoms of periodontal disease prostatatiche and lowers the value of the PSA."
