Watching an aquarium can help reduce blood pressure and heart rate, improve mood and increase attention span.

Numerous studies indicate that the outdoors is beneficial for mental and physical health. Deborah Cracknell, of Plymouth University (UK), and colleagues found that watching an aquarium leads to significant reductions in blood pressure and heart rate, and that a larger number of fish helps to keep the attention of the people for a time longer and improve their moods. The study's authors argue that: "We believe that having an aquarium in the house can be associated with important beneficiper health, especially for people not able to access to natural places."
