Eating dark chocolate can help increase levels of attention.

Larry Stevens, a professor of psychological sciences at Northern Arizona University, and colleagues conducted a study to examine the effects of chocolate on the characteristics of attention of the brain. The researchers looked at the effect that consumption of chocolate with 60% cocoa has had on the brain (with electroencephalography) and blood pressure. A total of 122 participants aged 18-25 years were enrolled in the study. The results showed that eating chocolate 60% makes the brain more alert and attentive, and also causes an increase in blood pressure for a short time immediately. Immediately after it occurs an immediate decrease in blood pressure

"Chocolate is a stimulant and activates the brain in a very special way," said Professor Stevens. "The chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa lowers blood pressure and helps the brain to pay attention."
