Fruit of the family Rosacie, the pear is rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and dietary fiber, and is also fat-free, cholesterol free and low in calories.

Dipayan Sarkar, of the University of Massachusetts (Massachusetts, USA), and colleagues analyzed the pulp and skin of the variety of Bartlett pear and Starkrimson to ensure the probiotic potential of the compounds present in the fruit. The researchers found that the peel (with respect to the pulp) Pear has a high phenolic content; while the pulp is rich in antioxidant properties. In addition, the team observed that the entire fermented pear juice exerts an inhibitory effect on the ulcer stomach.

Riceratori I have therefore concluded that "The pear has potential for the management of type 2 diabetes associated with hyperglycemia and hypertension. This in vitro study provides the conceptual basis of animal studies and clinical trials regarding the pear to combat type 2 diabetes ".
