Botulife line for the Face

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox is the trade name of the pharmacological preparation that uses this toxin as an active ingredient.

Botulinum toxin was isolated in 1944 by Edward Schantz.

MEDICAL USES OF BOTOX

Botulinum toxin type A was approved in 1989 by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of strabismus, blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm. In 2002 came the approval for use in aesthetic medicine for the temporary improvement of frown lines.

Botulinum toxin B (BTX-B) was approved in 2000 by the FDA for the treatment of cervical dystonia.

Currently we are studying other possible medical applications, as in the case of migraine, prostatic symptoms, asthma, obesity and other possible indications.

The use of botulinum toxin for which there is approval vary widely by type of toxin, type of product sold and country to country, even within the European Union. In Europe, the botulinum toxin is marketed in the form of four pharmaceutical products: Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Vistabex. Botulinum toxin B is instead marketed in Europe under the name of Neurobloc.

THE BOTOX IN AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Botulinum toxin works by inhibiting the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, the substance that is released by the nerves to transmit the stimulus for muscle contraction, blocking the release in the muscles. The result is the block / paralysis of the muscle where the botulinum toxin is injected, the effect is the attenuation of wrinkles, caused by the contraction of the muscles in question.

Botox reduces expression lines or wrinkles caused by continued contraction of the mimic muscles of the face, eg. the eyebrows or wrinkle their noses.
Botox corrects wrinkles, while it has less effect on signs of 'aging and very deep wrinkles.
In these cases, Botox can be combined with other treatments such as fillers (collagen, hyaluronic acid), peeling, lifting or blepharoplasty, laser skin resurfacing.

TREATMENT WITH BOTOX

Treatment with Botox is an outpatient procedure, without anesthesia, and takes about 20 minutes.
Botulinum toxin is injected with a small syringe in moderate amounts in the mimic muscles, from which originate the wrinkles.

After treatment with botulinum the face appears for a few minutes slightly reddened at the points where the injection was made.
The resumption of all normal activities immediately. While you should not expose yourself to the sun for about ten days.

The infiltration of Botox begin to give good results after 2-5 days of treatment, with the relaxation of the corrugator muscle, and reach maximum effectiveness after a month.
The results last for about 4-6 months and gradually disappear.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF BOTOX
