The comparison of supplements requires skills very thorough. However, it is possible to draw some guidelines to avoid using low quality products. There are three aspects to consider:

1) the price
2) the quantity
3) ease of absorption.

1) The price - we must always refer to the monthly dose, not at the cost of the package. The quantity can be expressed in number of items (ex 30 capsules lasting 30 days if the dosage is one capsule per day) or active (if I take 500 mg of vitamin C a day, I use 5 capsules of a supplement with 100 mg of vitamin C per capsule).

2) The quantity - the active ingredient, is the quantity of the substance having a physiological effect indicated, contained in the product.

The quantity must always be assessed carefully. In fact assume a quantity less than that necessary to the needs (for example, indicated by the RDA), may decrease the beneficial effects of the integrator.

A trick spread is to express the amount of the compound of the active ingredient. This is the case of magnesium. If product appears in the amount of magnesium aspartate or magnesium pidolate, is not easy to go back to the relative amount to only magnesium.

3) The ease of absorption - depending on the product, the active substance can be absorbed as a percentage more or less high. This is the case of iron: the iron absorption in the intestine, in fact, decreases if it increases the content of iron in the body, and increases in the opposite case.

You have to pay attention also to the expiration date of the product and proper storage away from light and moisture, factors that can alter the active ingredients contained in the product.
