The attention


The world is flooded with a continuous stream of sensory stimuli, but our conscious mind perceives only a small part, most will ignore it because they do not have the time to consider and evaluate all the information you attain it.

We can define attention as the focus of the mind on a particular sensory stimulus, the temporary importance that our mind dedicating a certain perception. The attention therefore acts as a filter that channels the mental resources towards a more or less small portion of reality.



The concentration


When attention is actively used on a small portion of the concentration becomes reality and prove to direct most of the mental resources only on the task we are doing. The concentration is therefore an aspect of attention: the long maintain attention to a task. While we do our concentration is such that we do not notice of what is happening around us. This phenomenon is called inattention blindness and is greater the more we focus and the more we try to ignore any possible distractions. It 'been long studied and proven through many experiments, including the famous video of basketball players, including at one point you see a gorilla that dances. Normally it is impossible not to notice a gorilla that dances between basketball players, but if the test subjects are focused very much, for example, to count the steps carried out by a team, there's just not even see the events more clearly. Increasingly nowadays many groups of people complain of difficulties in attention and concentration. It is a phenomenon partly organic, but often completely psychological is strongly correlated with increasing levels of stress of everyday life.
