The inflammatory response is a natural defense mechanism that the body contrasts with an infection.
But a state of chronic inflammation of the body is an indication of a lack of control of the normal protective mechanisms of the body, and is connected to a number of diseases, many of which came up, with aging, precisely because of cellular degeneration favored by the process inflammatory heart disease, osteoporosis, cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis.

Vishwa Deep Dixit, of the Yale School of Medicine (Connecticut, USA) and colleagues have identified a compound, known as Nlrp3 as a trigger of aging linked to 'inflammation. The team has revealed that this compound causes a loss of function that is manifested by insulin resistance, bone loss, frailty and cognitive decline. The study's authors hope that future therapies aimed at reducing Nlrp3 may delay age-related chronic diseases. 


The most common cause of disability in the United States is arthritis and 100 other rheumatic diseases that affect the joints and tissues surrounding the joint connective tissue. 

Scientific evidence shows that many factors contribute to developing arthritis. In particular, the lifestyle: smoking, obesity, inactivity can increase a person's risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.  


Among healthy adults, simple changes in diet can be effective in reducing inflammation and therefore arthritis in just six weeks. Lynnette Ferguson, University of Auckland (New Zealand), and colleagues studied 30 healthy men and women, chosen for their diet initially "poor", who were encouraged to eliminate refined and processed foods and follow a diet type Mediterranean over six weeks - with greater quantities of fish, vegetables, unrefined grains and healthy fats such as olive oil and avocado. The diet was also gluten-free. After six weeks, the team observed that the biomarkers of inflammation, particularly C-reactive protein (CRP), have been significantly reduced.
