2012: ASL MILAN LAUNCHES AN IMPORTANT PROJECT SMOKE

Treat the smoke in smokers, even asymptomatic, allows to prevent a large number of pathologies, in particular by decreasing the cardiovascular risk and the risk for cancer numerous malignancies, other than the lung. Promotes the implementation and development of healthy lifestyles and leads to a reduction of costs associated with the treatment of smoking-related diseases.
Addiction to tobacco smoke is recognized as a pathological condition in the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (ICD-10) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, American Psychiatric Association (DSM-IV).
In Italy at least 40% of active smokers, about 4 million people, would like to quit, and many have tried this, but failed due to the strong dependence produced by tobacco smoke, and that is caused by nicotine.
ASL of Milan, which in the past has already made specific training in relation to general practitioners, will enable a project involving general practitioners in smoking cessation for their patients smoking. The project is organized in 2011-2012 providing for the definition phase in 2011, in collaboration with the Centers Smoke ASL in Milan, specific guidelines, submit them to the doctors and their involvement through a meeting of district training issue of smoking cessation. In 2012, the project involves the direct intervention of doctors for the promotion of smoking cessation for their patients smoking.

The GPs who participated in the project will:
- Administer to assist smokers in charge: 1) The Fagerstrom test, the instrument most scientifically credited as meter test dependency smoking status, easy to use and quick interpretation, which directs the type of treatment to be proposed, 2) the evaluation questionnaire motivation to quit smoking;
- Intervene directly through the action of educational, with the support of information materials, counseling and drug therapy or, alternatively: - send to a center assisted Smoke from those indicated by ASL because they are subjected to an intensive anti-smoking treatment;
- REPORTING in the specific reporting Agorasl available for each assisted identified with the tax code, the Fagerstrom test result, the result of the evaluation questionnaire of motivation and the type of intervention implemented (only activity information and educational, comprehensive only when scoring less than 6 of the questionnaire for the assessment of motivation / type of direct intervention / dispatch center in Smoke).
Antiaging Club, promouove the fight against smoking, seen as one of the tools available to prevent aging.
