More than half of all cancer deaths occurred in the United States this year are related to preventable causes, says a major report on cancer research published by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
 

The fourth edition of the AACR Cancer Progress Report focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disease, but a significant part of the report highlights the research in prevention, using the results of the World Cancer Research Fund and AICR, along with other data. The diet, physical activity and other factors can greatly increase the risk of cancer. With the changes of these factors, lifestyle, AICR estimates that many cancer cases are preventable. The AACR report says that more than 50 percent of the 585,720 cancer deaths expected to occur in the United States in 2014 will be related to preventable causes. This goes far beyond what research he knew only a few decades ago.
