Antiaging Club
took part in the day Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Conference Metagenics " Nutrigenomics and Epigenetics " held in Milan .

An important message that all speakers have not failed to point out was:

DNA is not written in the clinical fate of a person, but it is possible to condition in a different way to what is written in the genes .

How ? Through lifestyle . This fact accounts for 50% of the state of health of the person , much more than they affect inheritance.

Anticipate the disease and not cure the disease is the must current and next . Hence the definition of " anticipatory medicine "

Epigenetics

Epigenetics (from the greek epi = "above" and gennetikòs = "relative to the legacy family " ) is a branch of genetics that describes all of the heritable modifications that vary gene expression while not altering the DNA sequence , and then the hereditary phenomena in which the phenotype is determined not so much by the genotype inherited in itself, but by overlapping the same genotype of an imprint which influences the functional behavior .

A signal is an epigenetic any heritable change that does not alter the nucleotide sequence of a gene, but alters its activity . Epigenetics is therefore the study of heritable phenotypic alterations in gene expression caused by mechanisms other than changes in the genomic sequence , or the study of the molecular mechanisms by which the environment can alter the activity of genes without changing the ' information contained , ie without changing the DNA sequences .

Arthur Riggs called epigenetics "the study of mitotic and meiotic heritable changes that can not be explained by changes in DNA sequence ."

These mutations last as long as the life of the cell and can be transmitted to subsequent generations of cells through cell divisions , again without the corresponding DNA sequences have changed .

Most of the modifications epigenomiche is realized in the child during the first 2/3 years of life. Some diseases , such as cancer , have an epigenetic basis . A tumor arises when it has an alteration of the genetic material that leads to an increase of the cell turn-over , to an alteration of cell functions , such un'invasività of the affected cell .

Nutrigenomics

Nutrigenomics is a science that combines genetics with nutrition , with a view to preventing disease and protecting the well-being of the organism.

The hypothesis that food can be correlated with the general state of health and , in particular, with the most common diseases , dates back several centuries ago. In 1850 the philosopher Feuerback argued that man is what he eats and that " To think better we have to feed ourselves better," even before Hippocrates, father of medicine, said: "Let your food be your medicine , the medicine be thy food, "and his thinking was based on the belief that the food they were able to influence what he called the " heat "of the organism , and , more generally, the genesis of the disease . The ancient oriental medicine for thousands of years supporting the correlation between food and health.

In recent years there have been numerous studies nutrigenomici , through the development of genetic tests aimed at revealing the mutations responsible for serious diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, food intolerance and cancer, but also through a survey of benefits that certain foods make when present in the diet.

A proper and targeted nutrition, which takes into account not only dele general guidelines but also the genotypic diversity of each individual, allowing the prevention of diseases and the treatment of complex diseases , such as metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, neoplastic diseases, stress injury oxidative - aging.
