Supplements for Menopause

Many studies have shown that dietary fat and physical activity influence bone health.

Correlation confirmed by professorB. Tartibian, University of Urmia (Iran). Tartibian and colleagues enrolled 79 healthy post-menopausal women, assigning them to one of four groups: group 1: control (without supplements or exercise), group 2: engaged in aerobic exercise (walking and jogging, reach up to 65% of maximum heart rate), group 3 received a daily supplement of 1000 mg of omega-3 (180 mg EPA/120 mg of DHA), group 4 received both the supplement and is responsible for carrying out the activity aerobics.

After 24 weeks, the team found that the merged group physical omega-3/esercizio had a bone mineral density (BMD) increased by 15% in the lower part of the back, and 19% in the bone of the thigh at the hip . Moreover, in the combined group omega-3/esercizio were improved physical values of some inflammatory markers: the levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) were reduced by 40%, and the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is decreased by 80%.

The authors of the study argue strongly that: "This study shows that long-term aerobic training combined intake of omega-3 has a synergistic effect: reduces inflammation and increases bone mineral density in phase post-menopausal osteoporosis. "
