Walking 2000 steps more per day reduces cardiovascular disease by 8%. And 'what emerges from a recent study by the University of Leicester.

The researchers found that the participants already involved in some type of physical activity at baseline had a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. "This is the first study to specifically quantify the extent to which change in behavior may modify the risk of heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular deaths .
