Is common to many people to lose some  weight gain during the week and a bit  of weight during the weekend.

Brian Wansink of Cornell University (New York, USA) and colleagues have explored the relationship between the cycle of seven days a week and weight. The researchers looked at 80 adults , aged 25-62 years , who were classified according to weight changes : weight loss , weight gain , weight maintenance . Study participants were asked to weigh yourself after waking , before breakfast.

The results revealed a clear weekly pattern with greater weight fluctuation after the weekend ( Sunday and Monday) and weight decrease during weekdays , with the lowest point on Friday .

The researchers observed that: " Changes in weight between weekends and weekdays should be regarded as normal , not as signs of weight gain. Those that compensate for the weight changes in the different days of the week are more likely to lose or maintain weight over time. habits in the long term they can make more difference than episodes in the short term. "

And again: " On weekends, people have more time to go out and eat. Some concessions over the weekend do not hurt, but to maintain / lose weight, it is important to note these concessions and take measures to reverse the trends after the weekend . "

In summary :

  • The weight of each follows a predictable rhythm of the week : you gain a little ' over the weekend and lose a little ' over the course of the week.
  • It weighs more on Sunday evening and less on Friday morning.
  • It ' important to tear them aware of the rule that we grant you , to be able to provide the following days.
  • The bigger the gap between the weight and the weight of Sunday evening on Friday morning , the more likely you are able to lose / maintain weight during the year.
