As part of the event Rimini dedicated to physical activity, the Association of Italian Culture Sports held a conference in which they were presented for the first time data on the needs on the sport and the abandonment thereof.

What are the elements that generate satisfaction in playing a sport? Why did you decide to do? Because, on the contrary, it is decided at times to quit? These are some of the questions to which it gives response research "The needs of young people between sport and health promotion", conducted by AICS Italian Association of Sports Culture in collaboration with the University of Padua and presented at Sports Days, the event dedicated the world of physical activity held at the Fiera di Rimini.

During a conference sponsored by AICS, which was attended by among others, the National President of the Association, Bruno Molea, and Gian Piero Turks, professor at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Padua, were unveiled a preview of the results of the study , which involved a sample of nearly 300 respondents from all over Italy, divided equally between members and non-members AICS and youth (13-20 years) and adults (over 20 years). Both have been asked in particular what are the elements that generate satisfaction and enjoyment in sport, such as those that underlie the decision to undertake the activity or abandon it, as it is perceived the use of performance-enhancing drugs, the requirements in the supply of opportunities for sport participation.

With regard to the factors leading to satisfaction, on the one hand and young adults agree to give more emphasis to the relational aspects (with teammates, coach and company) on one side, however, the majority of young people attributed the dissatisfaction with elements of type organizational (structure, timing, space), while for adults (for whom this issue is not even mentioned) in the first place reside the lack of results.

Another difference with regard to the abandonment of the sport: if young people emphasize causes such as health problems, lifestyle changes and commitments have appeared (37% of total responses), for adults to have the greatest impact are the relationships with teammates and coaches (18%), followed by lack of stimulation (13%) and the results (almost 9%).
