Supplements for the Wellbeing of Joints

A research team with members from the United States and Australia has found that people who play sports at a young age tend to increase the size and strength of their bones , and therefore to have the best performance for a lifetime . In the article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , the team describes how they studied the bones of the arms of professional baseball players during their life and how their work has influenced bone size and strength.

Everyone knows that exercise causes the muscles to grow bigger and leaner , it now appears that the sport offers similar benefits for the bones . In this new study , the research team enrolled 103 professional baseball players to learn more about the ' impact of exercise on bone. The researchers found that the players had up to twice the bone strength in their arms , by measurement of size and bone density.

Once you have finished their careers , some players have continued in an active lifestyle , while others do not. Even in the absence of activity continues , the players have maintained some of the attributes of bone strength for the rest of their lives. For those who have continued to use their arms after retiring from baseball the benefits were even greater : higher bone density levels .

The results of this study indicate that exercise during youth is perhaps even more important than was previously thought . The breaking of the bones in old age is very common : young people should play enough exercise to increase the size and density of their bones , so as to be less susceptible to breakage of the bones as they grow older .
